There are many factors that can cause hair loss. Basically, the sensitivity to hormones called the androgens, especially dihydrotestosterone (DHT), is basically increased. Androgenetic alopecia is precisely caused by the genetic sensitivity of hair follicles to the effect of this hormone. DHT causes a gradual shortening of the active phase of hair growth, its elasticity and ultimately decrease. Hair transplantation is precisely conceived on the fact that the follicles on the potent part of the head (giving region) are resistant to the effect of this hormone. That is, when the hair from this region transplants, it retains its properties, it is lasting and never decreases. Androgenetic alopecia may be prevented if the therapy starts on time, and certainly the hair loss can slow down. Several important therapies are available today, among which PRP therapy was best demonstrated. However, hair transplantation remains the only safe and permanent solution for hair loss and is based on the fact that the given region (the back part of the head) does not contain the enzyme 5 alpha reductase and cannot lead to the decrease of already transplanted hair. Hair transplantation is a procedure that takes several hours, depending on its size. The technique we use in Hospital S – tetik is a “strip” technique, also called the FUT procedure – follicular unit transplantation. The strip technique got its name, because from the given region it cuts “strip”, or a piece of skin width up to 2 cm and length from 10 to 15 cm, from which the micro grafts are separated.

The second part of the intervention (implantation of grafts) is based on the same principles of successful and natural hair transplantation (natural growth direction, arrangement of different grafts, appropriate density, etc.)

The intervention begins in the morning. The patient is advised to wash his hair in the morning and to have the breakfast. Before the intervention starts, the patient’s giving region is trimmed to 1-2 mm in length. The first phase is the one in which only the transplants are taken. After giving anesthesia, as the whole given region numbs and becomes painless, it begins with the cutting of the strip. The doctor then extracts each graft individually and deploys it as needed until implantation. If there are any intersected grafts, they are immediately thrown away because they cannot be used. Depending on how much hair is needed, this phase can last up to four hours. In the second stage, the patient is in a semi-lying position. After the last consultation on the new look of hair, the receiving region is anesthetized. With a microsurgical knife with a diameter of 0.5-1.0 mm are made incisions – cuts of the same direction as the existing hair, with certain density and layout to make the graft hair look completely natural. Then in team is done the implantation of grafts. This phase requires great precision and patience during operation, and takes a little longer than the first phase.
