Phimosis is a condition in which the foreskin of the penis cannot be pulled back past the glans. Therefore, the glans penis cannot be released, sometimes only during erection, and sometimes in a relaxed condition. Besides mentioned, there is a situation where the string (frenulum) on the lower side of the glans is short, so when pulling back the skin, that string pulls glans downwards.

This can be very painful and may interfere with normal sexual intercourse. String, that is the frenulum often bursts, causing painful wounds that are hard to heal later.
When they are healed, they can lead to greater shortening of the frenulum.
